John Foster Tyra received both his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama. Shortly after graduating law school in 1980, he began practicing in the field of Oil, Gas, and Mineral law. He has over 30 years of experience as a img_1045-300x300licensed attorney in both Alabama and Mississippi.

John is frequently asked to be a speaker at seminars by the Alabama Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landmen, Mississippi Oil and Gas Lawyers Association, American Association of Profession Landmen, Black Warrior Professional Landman Association and many others due to his knowledge and experience in the field of Oil, Gas, and Mineral law.

John has twice served as Chairman of the Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law Section of the Alabama Bar Association. He is also a member of  the Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental  Law Section of the Mississippi Bar Association.

His fellow attorneys have given him a Martindale-Hubble Rating AV® Preeminent™ 5 out of 5.
